WAYNE

MORGAN

ATHLETE

FOOTBALL / BASKETBALL

CLASS OF 2021

Wayne Morgan is listed as one of Hoops Canada’s top 100 Canadian basketball players of all-time. Before he was known nationally, he had already turned heads while playing for J.C. Patterson Collegiate Institute.

According to those that knew the local basketball scene, Morgan was the most dominant WSSA player in the 1960s. He was selected All-City in 1965-1967 and was a two-time tournament selection at the University of Windsor Christmas Tournament, a feat that only three players achieved in 57 years.

After high school, Morgan attended the University of Guelph where he was three-time OUAA All Conference first team. He was also a two-time all-Canadian selection. Morgan starred on the grid iron at Guelph and was twice named Athlete of the Year. In 1984 Morgan was inducted into the University of Guelph Hall of Fame.

The names of individual record holders at Guelph made up a relatively small list; the reason, many of the records belonged to one individual – Wayne Morgan. He was the only player to be a three-time OUAA leading scorer and leading rebounder.

The Windsor/Essex County Hall of Fame is honoured to welcome Wayne Morgan into his deserved place in the Athlete category.
