SANDY

REPKO

BUILDER

ADMINSTRATOR/COACH

CLASS OF 2014

Sandy Repko is an accomplished, tireless organizer and administrator who has served Windsor and Essex County well and demonstrated her skills on the world stage for over 40 years.

A graduate of Kingsville District High School, Repko went on to teach at Essex District High School in adulthood. She became involved with the school’s athletic department and eventually officiated and organized several sports over the span of her teaching career. In particular, Repko officiated and co-convened multiple WECSSA and SWOSSA track and field meets.

For over four decades, Repko has constantly dedicated herself to athletic competitions at the high school and collegiate level in Windsor-Essex. For much of that time, she has applied the same skillset to track and field events across the province and country. In fact, Repko has even officiated major international track and field meets in the United States and foreign locales as diverse and distant as Europe, South Africa, and Australia.

Repko has been honoured regularly for her accomplishments as an official and athletics administrator. She is a recipient of the Township of Gosfield Citizen of the Year Award, Kingsville Hockey’s inaugural Charlie Rocks Memorial Award, the Windsor Roseland Rotary Club’s Lloyd Morgan Sportsperson of the Year Award, and the WESPYs’ John Ferguson Female Sportsperson of the Year Award. The University of Windsor gave Repko its Lancers “A” Award, and OFSAA Track & Field honoured her with a special award to commemorate her 40-plus years of service. Repko also received the Ontario Volunteer Service Award for her (then) 25 years as an official with Ontario Track and Field. Perhaps most significantly, Repko was selected to receive the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.

At the time of her induction into the Windsor/Essex County Sports Hall of Fame, Repko continued to be involved with the local track and field community. Over the course of her unique career, an untold number of student-athletes have been direct beneficiaries of her tireless efforts and unmatched dedication.
