CLASS OF 2023

To say Lith “Spyder” Webb was an instant hit at California University of Pennsylvania is a bit of an understatement.

Webb batted .462 as a freshman for the Vulcans in 1995, the start of a record-setting, hall of fame career for the Canadian infielder who went on to lead the team to back-to-back NCAA Division II championships in ’97 and ’98. Webb scored the winning run in both NCAA finals.

She remains the school’s only four-time All-American and she still holds 30 school records.

Described as “a sleek and powerful third baseman” she was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame in 2004 where the website noted she was “brilliant defensively and an unstoppable offensive force.”

Webb graduated with a .442 career average, 88 extra base hits out of 295 career hits, 24 home runs and 154 RBI. In 2001, the school unveiled a seven-foot bronze statue of Webb and several teammates on the first NCAA championship team.

The Kennedy Collegiate product played locally for the Windsor Wildcats and was a pick-up selection of the Chinguacousy Junior Cougars who won three straight Canadian junior softball championships from 1995-97. The team, including Webb, was inducted into the Canadian Softball Hall of Fame in 2000.

In 1996, Webb was selected as an alternate to the Canadian national team for the Atlanta Olympic Games. In 2006, Webb was named to ESPN’s 25th anniversary collegiate team.

In 2020, Webb was inducted into the Windsor Fastpitch Softball Hall of Fame.

Now, another hall beckons as Webb takes her place in the Windsor/Essex County Sports Hall of Fame.
